Oslo. 1980. The legendary guitarist Agustin Pereyra Lucena is joined by bassist and multi-instrumentalist Guillermo Reuter, flautist Ruben Izarrualde and Finn Sletten on drums and percussion. Guided by the genius of Agustin, they recorded a touching piece that Far Out Recordings is now reissuing. La Rana, owing its title to João Donato’s “A Rã” (Eng: The Frog/ Esp: La Rana) from his 1973 album Quem É Quem, sees him taking on compositions by Ivan Lins, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Agustín’s friend and musical hero Baden Powell.

The Argentinian composer and guitarist came to be one of the greatest personalities of Brazilian and Latin American music. Having shared stages with the likes of Vinicius de Moraes, Dorival Cayymi, Toquinho, Maria Bethania, Chico Buarque or Quarteto Em Cy, the work of Agustin Pereyra Lucena, both with originals and reinterpretations, is highly respected. Inspired in equal measure by South American rhythms and Norweigan glaciers, mountains and waterfalls, La Rana is filled with the warmth, humility and sincerity of a man seizing a joyful moment in life through music. A special moment of music, now available in vinyl via Far Out Recordings.
