Collettivo Immaginario is a instrumental collective based in Northern Italy and is the product of the minds of Tommaso Cappellato (drums), Nicolò Masetto (bass) and Alberto Lincetto (pianist). Their debut LP, entitled Trasforma, was just released by Domanda Music and expresses their explorations through the traditions of eclectic jazz, funk and electronica, distilling the ebullient energy of the trio’s acclaimed live performances into a lush and cinematic studio album, subtly paying homage to genre-bending giants such as Azymuth, Lonnie Liston Smith or Herbie Hancock.

Composed by nine tracks, Trasforma, takes the listener across a soundscape that is both organic and otherworldly. The trio openly celebrates the inclusion of experimental elements and the rhythms from Brazil and West Africa that have influenced their dynamic sound - although grabbing inspiration from Italian film composers Piero Piccioni and Piero Umiliani and maintaining an Italian outlook. The expressive sounds of their native tongue are harnessed in the naming of the track titles, all of which reflect the album’s central theme of transformation from one state or perspective into another. Available on vinyl, this is a record that will turn many heads.
