corto.alto: not for now

See this content in the original post

Following a series of incredible DIY self-releases and videos (you can watch an example below), culminating on a sold-out vinyl EP on Worm Discs, critical acclaim and a Best Band and Album at the Scottish Jazz Awards 2020, corto.alto present Not For Now. Via Worm Discs, the EP’s release was postponed due to the prolific series of new releases self-imposed (every three weeks) by the man behind the project: Liam Shortall.

Calling musicians of the highest caliber to give life to his compositions, Shortall is accompanied by rising saxophonist Harry Weir, trumpeter James Copus, and pianist Fergus McCreadie & drummer Graham Costello. Nubiyan Twist & Onipa co-founder, Tom Excell, not only contributes on percussion, but co-produces Not For Now alongside Shortall, adding the midas touch that has undoubtedly contributed to Nubiyan Twist’s incredible success. After listening to the five tracks that compose it, we’re blown away by an incredible energy that balances pure jazz instincts with intellect and sensibility. Not For Now establishes Shortall’s incredible talents as an artist, producer, composer and trombonist and corto.alto’s powerful, synchronised and intuitive musicality. Available on vinyl, courtesy of Worm Discs.
