Comprising of members of Maisha, Ezra Collective, Myriad Forest, Undergrooveland and Don Kipper, Cykada combines electronic and live music with global inspiration from West Africa to Eastern Europe in their self-titled release, courtesy of Astigmatic Records. All the way from London, the world-centre for the jazz renaissance, their music explores new ways of expression.

Cykada is the result of an energetic mixture of different influences from the established musicians that compose the band. Their unique vibe is a testament to its members and the crucial role they each play in the creative process. During the five tracks, we’re taken into a trip, in which Western Africa is just bordering with Eastern Europe, where turkish music mingles with flamenco or afrobeat. All of this is wrapped up with the fundamentals of the London club scene. Cykada, available on vinyl, engages distant poles, analog worlds crashing with electronics, eastern influences crossing with western and nostalgic moments with dancefloor bangers.
