felipe gordon: bringing the old school back ep

Prolific is the right word to describe Felipe Gordon’s output. The amount of high-karat-gold releases in such short span of time makes us wonder if he’s under some kind of magic spell. Following a year in which he released his album A Landscape Onomatopeya, the EP’s Atlantic Exchanges (with Cody Currie) and Síncopa Liquida, he now presents Bringing The Old School Back EP via Groovin Recordings. This project is a tribute to classic house, demonstrating Gordon’s sensibilities for soulful, bumpin’, groove-driven productions.

With jazz instrumentation, and elements that resemble the musical group format (solos, phrases with responses, etc), Felipe Gordon conceived this release with the idea of being at the height of Groovin reissues, that goes from genre architects like Blaze, or Chicago pillars like Glenn Underground. Drums and rhythmical phrases provide stompin’ instructions, while the uplifting chords, the jazzy open hats, the soulful sampling combine to real party vibes… impossible not to feel within. All of these elements, although previously used in past eras, are now revamped through the lens of a new generation prodigious producer. Available on vinyl, Bringing the Old School Back EP is an essential house music release for the summer. And Felipe Gordon is not stopping here…
