Gianni Brezzo is a jazz band/studio project headed by the Cologne-based producer, multi-instrumentalist and musical mastermind Marvin Horsch. The Awakening is the fictional character’s debut on the reputable Jakarta Records, showcasing Brezzo’s versatile but still jazz focused approach and style and also displaying Horsch’s pure talent as a musician and songwriter. His delivery sounds very personal, coming from the inside in the form of this deeply wonderful melancholy and moody jazz vibe.

Following two beautiful albums, released in 2019 and 2020, Gianni Brezzo introduces for the first time guest appearances in his projects. The Berlin/Tel Aviv based singer and producer J.Lamotta and soul singer Otis Junior from Louisville contribute with their signature vocal and lyrical approaches, giving the record an additional soulful note. But it’s through the smooth instrumentals that The Awakening touches us. From Brezzo’s acoustic guitar (the center piece of his creations) to a full polished jazz ensemble expressing emotions and life colours.
