Gianni Brezzo is a jazz band/studio project headed by the Cologne-based producer, multi-instrumentalist and musical mastermind Marvin Horsch. Following the release of a number of EP and LP’s since 2017, culminating most recently with The Awakening EP (2021), he presents the mesmerizing Tutto Passa via, once again, Jakarta Records. Horsch’s new album reflects meditations around his relationship to Italian culture, accompanied by research into Italian composers of the 60’s / 70’s such as Piero Umiliani, Stelvio Cipriani, Piero Piccioni and Armando Trovajoli to more recent work by Sven Wunder.
Rediscovering this genetic connection through annual visits to see his grandmother in Sicily, the german composer delivers a project that contains a variety of moods, ranging from Arthur Verocai inspired arrangements to lush, thematic jazz progressions with a swingin' percussive edge akin to works by David Axelrod. Tutto Passa is sonically rich, exploring new approaches to music production and timeless textures with all the elements flowing in perfect harmony. Available on vinyl, this record is a beautiful career-defining piece of work for Marvin Horsch’s Gianni Brezzo project.
