guerrinha: ida aos correios

See this content in the original post

The unknown genius of Gabriel Guerra hails from sunny Rio de Janeiro, leaving his home regularly to go to the post office to send some of the many 40%Foda/Maneiríssimo records that he and his friends (and aliases) have been releasing in the past few years. This ordinary bit of life might be absolutely terrifying to the common Brazilian, but for Guerrinha it means entering a meditative state of mind where sounds start taking form in his imagination. Ida Aos Correios (Portuguese for “trip to the post office) is the 45th release from the unmissable 40%Foda/Maneiríssimo imprint and one of many groovy EP’s from Guerrinha (a.k.a. so many names that is hard to enumerate).

We came across Gabriel Guerra and his label around last year, when Japanese DJ fico included two of his songs in O Sótão’s Guest MIX #5. This fortunate musical encounter prompted us to send an hysterical e-mail to 40%Foda/Maneiríssimo around that time, basically thanking the boys for their music. As always, by surprise, Guerrinha suddenly drops a vibrant project and we couldn’t miss the chance of featuring him (meaning that we are moving our editorial schedule all around the place). Ida Aos Correios is composed by five tracks that owe their names to the location of Guerra’s favorite post offices in Rio. The synths, flutes and organs are carefully chosen, bringing a hazy, 80’s, eastern texture, while the correct use of adlibs and 707 beats contribute with further class. Available on CD, don’t miss the opportunity of asking Guerrinha to go to the post office again.
