Hailing from the melting pot of sounds in Melbourne, Jordan Hankins presents his most accomplished work to date within his vibrant Interface Palm. Following the promising Four To The Flora EP, released on Beats Of No Nation, he teams up with the french imprint Broken District, one of our electonic jazz/broken beat labels, for his first mini-LP entitled Curated Space. Composed by 6 tracks skirting the line between broken beat, house, cosmic jazz and hip hop, Interface Palm delivers a sublime conceptual record.
Curated Space opens up with 3 tracks mixed together and served as one continuous production. The blend of “Check In”, “Readymade” and "Empty Ceramic” takes us on a voyage through elements of disco, G-funk, jazz, broken beat and house-four-to-the-floor rhythms, accelerating the tempo and inviting the listener for a real immersive experience. Flipping the record, “Street Couch”, is a modern broken-beat track featuring the future legend of bass Horatio Luna, and “Shoplifted Sculpture” is an incredibly smart, yet bizarre production that mixes bruk and lo fi, reminiscing on previous sonic approaches by the Australian producer. “Tapestry” delves into a different direction - an easy-going and nostalgic hip hop cut that closes the mini-LP in style.
