The sequel to Kareem Ali’s long-awaited LP Godson Of House: The Album dropped last friday. As per usual, the Tucson-based magician surprised all of us with another 10-track opus of forward-thinking, space-age sounds, bringing together elements of classic Detroit techno with ambient, garage, and broken beat. Godson Of House: Rise Of A Black Planet is his second release via his own CosmoFlux Recordings and relates to its predecessor in terms of sonic textures, conveying messages of resistance towards difficulty, sounds of energy, colorful dreamscapes and a tangible optimism, wrapped around a truly unique approach to house and dance music.

Ali’s ability to take us into his own musical space remains untouched on this one, removing all the background noise and providing a sonic trip towards outer-space sounds. Hard to confine in one unique style, much like the rest of his discography, Godson Of House: Rise Of A Black Planet is a funk-driven deep affair with tracks that work equally well in a home setting and in a dancefloor. Kareem Ali is able to diversify and stretch his musical output with inclusion of surprising elements in a take to electronic music that is comoleteley (and intentionally) his. Available on Bandcamp, don’t miss this spaceship commanded by the genious multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer.
