A mutual love for 60s and 70s Italian soundtrack and library music brought Lorenzo Morresi & Tenderlonious together in a sublime project entitled Cosmica Italiana that 22a just released. Inspired by the invaluable work of musicians and composers such as Piero Umiliani, Amleto Armando Roelens and even Ennio Morricone - with his side project Gruppo Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza lead by Franco Evangelisti - they conceived a new approach to that early 1970s Italian style. For that the duo, accompanied by Archelao Macrillo (drums) and Emilio Merone (keys), delves into contemporary analogue inspired arrangements combined with experimental and joyful 'tongue-in-cheek' sounds that could work on the dance floor as well as at home.
Cosmica Italiana is situated mainly in the territories of Italo jazz funk and the aforementioned Italian library sound. Some tracks like “Nuda Sorgente”, “Doppio Sogno” and “Estate” (a cover from the classic jazz standard by Italian singer Bruno Martino) are also club oriented with a musical crossover from old-to-new. Lorenzo Morresi and Tenderlonious worked tirelessly between Italy and London for approximately 2 years carefully shaping the amazing Cosmica Italiana, providing new forms of inspiration within the genre’s realm.
