okvsho: a place between us
Zurich-based brothers Christoph and Georg Kiss, the creative force behind Okvsho, are making waves with their sublime new album, A place between us. Released on their newly founded label Current Moves, the album is a testament to their commitment to collaboration and artistic exploration. Over 10 tracks, the record marks a significant step forward for Okvsho. Building upon their 2021 EP Orange Wine that followed their first album Kamala’s Danz, this project features a diverse array of guest artists, including Argentinian-Swiss rapper AKIRA, Haitian-born vocalist TRVΛNIΛ, and rising stars from South Africa's flourishing jazz scene. This global collaboration translates into a genre-bending soundscape, fusing Okvsho's signature beat-driven production with elements of jazz, hip hop, and Latin music.
Beyond the music itself, Okvsho is dedicated to fostering a vibrant local jazz scene in Zurich. Inspired by the UK's thriving jazz movement, the brothers are actively creating opportunities for local musicians through live performances and their new label, Current Moves. A place between us is more than just another album; it's a mesmerizing collection of compositions that portray their evolution surrounded by a growing local scene and community. Available on vinyl, this is a special one for the collectors.
Okvsho’s live band (many of whom feature on the record) feature Sara El Hachimi (Sax, Flute), Elias Kirchgraber (Bass) and Bérénice Keller (Perc) with Georg (Drums) and Christoph (Keys) at the forefront.
