Paul Grant’s fourth solo album is about to drop, once again via DeepMatter. Following the release of last year’s acclaimed Waves LP, the Californian multi-instrumentalist, producer and beatmaker keeps creating special stuff and Reflections is another statement - paying tribute to late 80’s and early 90’s jazz and r&b music and honouring various influences such as George Duke, Earl Klugh, Anita Baker, George Benson, and Stevie Wonder (to name a few).
Cementing his status as a go-to producer within the jazz-hip-hop scene, Grant’s inventiveness seems to be limitless.On Reflections his productions skills sound even more refined (building upon very refined sounds of previous projects), as he populates the record with various synths, unique chord progressions, and his signature intricate guitar-play. This time around he also delivers a solid amount of vocal-based tracks, featuring long-time collaborator Adrienne Indigo, alongside other features from Benjamin Totten, Amy Ahn & Morgan Burrs (Butcher Brown). Throughout 11 eleven tracks we dedicate our time to Paul Grant’s sound… signed and delivered as his own fusion of jazz, r&b and hip hop.
