We came across with Ranko’s productions in 2019, by the time Fluesseviertel was dropping via Am Apparat. The german beatmaker created a very groovy, warm and thumping record, blending golden-era-hip-hop textures with smooth deep house feelings. Now we meet his funkier side, presenting The Intergalactic Funk Affair, again through Am Apparat. Coming out tomorrow, Ranko’s second album on the german imprint sees him strolling light-footedly through the seemingly endless expanses of his musical galaxy.
Intergalactic Funk Affair comes with impressive lyrical/vocal support from the label colleagues Herr König, Yustus Malick, Jonathan Wr. Jr. and Pestizid, always adding funkier lines to instrumentals that sweat it out of every pour. Once again we hear to a fantastic production work that points to previous works from Ranko, but that definitely adds new elements. Available on vinyl, perfect for the inebriated chilling moments.
