Simon Mavin's debuts in the highly-regarded Bastard Jazz imprint with an EP titled Good Hair Day / Only You & Me. Known for his work as a keyboardist with the the amazing Hiatus Kaiyote band, Mavin unveils his solo project with two original tracks and remixes from Harvey Sutherland and Close Counters. Recorded at the Grove, the renowned Melbourne sanctuary, the EP captures Mavin's mastery of keyboards and his meticulous attention to analog textures.

The journey begins with "Good Hair Day," a dancefloor gem infused with infectious piano loops and funky basslines reminiscent of Herbie Hancock's iconic sound. Harvey Sutherland takes the track to new heights with deep synth work, punchy basslines and a pace that agrees well with constant movement. On the flip side, "Only You & Me" unveils a slower, mesmerizing groove with live drums, alien basslines, and jazzy keyboard solos. Close Counters' remix injects a classic broken beat vibe, driving the track squarely onto the dancefloor. Simon Mavin's debut EP testifies his talent and creativity. More than that leaves us with an incredible expectation for what’s to come. Available on vinyl via Bastard Jazz.
