surprise chef: all news is good news

See this content in the original post

Surprise Chef are an instrumental soul quartet from Melbourne, Australia. Their music reflects an education of 70’s soul, jazz-funk and library music, steered by a gritty, cinematic aesthetic. Their debut LP, All News Is Good News, was recorded live to tape, showcasing the complicity between its members and guest instrumentalists, and creating vivid, textural landscapes within the journey of the album - the first full-length release of the College Of Knowledge Records imprint .

Crossing the group’s unconventional jazz-funk sound, All News Is Good News is a mysterious piece, with a distinct cinematic taste to it, playing with shades of light and dark, tension and release. Based out of a share house, that encloses Surprise Chef’s analogue recording studio in the inner suburbs of Melbourne, the quartet is set to make waves across the bridge between Australia and Europe. All News Is Good News drops tomorrow, with vinyls available for purchase.
