tawiah: starts again

See this content in the original post

Starts Again is Tawiah’s creative reset of-sorts. Her debut album, a decade on from her first EP, is a triumphant 10-piece composition of avant-garde soul music, blending the artist’s sensibilities with low-slung beats and layered harmonies. This record is the result of years of creation - from self-produced demos, through live recordings with friends, to long joyful studio sessions working on the post production (with the collaboration of Hejira) - cementing Tawiah’s status as one of UK's finest recording artists and songwriters.

Despite this being her debut album, Tawiah is long-established in the UK music scene, having previously self-released two EPs and a mixtape, as well as high-profile collaborations with Cinematic Orchestra, Blood Orange, Mark Ronson or Eric Lau. Starts Again is an exploration of her identity as a queer woman of colour, raised in a pentecostal family, and a determination to express her musicianship in all its raw glory. Released by First Word Records, Starts Again drops tomorrow on vinyl, digital, CD and limited cassette.
