Following on their acclaimed Salone album (2016), The Kondi Band return to Strut Records to deliver a new recording that further hones the group’s unique fusions of Sorie Kondi’s inimitable vocals and the kondi thumb piano with intricate dancefloor electronics. Sorie Kondi, Chief Boima and Will LV join forces once again for the marvelous We Famous, presenting another essential dose of Freetown freestyle, combining electronic and traditional elements from Sierra Leone in a record that marks the last months of 2021.
We Famous was gradually recorded over a period of four years, time in which Sorie was on the road and the main production collaboration connected Boima, in Los Angeles, and Will LV, in London. The result is a varied and colourful set of ten tracks, infusing Boima and Will’s wide-ranging dancefloor influences. The inclusion of organic elements is mesmerizing with the voice of Sorie always giving a trippy and unique texture to the band’s output. The Kondi Band return with a special record that (obviously) will be available on vinyl, courtesy of Strut Records.
