Sounds Familiar, a stalwart in the dance music scene, is commemorating its impressive decade-long journey with a triumphant celebration through a trio of LP releases spread across 2023 - Volume 1 came out last April. The second installment, Familiar Sounds Volume 2, continues the label's tradition of curating a seamless blend of genres, drawing lines between the elastic realms of acid house and the intimate elegance of candle-lit piano jazz. This 12" release brings together an ensemble of diverse artists, including Kaidi Tatham, Carista, Gigi Testa, Zopelar, Alex From Tokyo, and K15, each contributing their unique touch to the label's electronic jazz-influenced sound.

The journey starts with Kaidi Tatham's "Misguided Youts," an anthem that intertwines a mesmerizing piano vamp with infectious horn lines. This blend of London's jazz and broken beat heritage encapsulates Tatham's legendary reputation as a master of future fusion. Carista takes the reins on the second track, "Love Me Right," crafting a dancefloor masterpiece with rubbery four-to-the-floor beats and dream-like vocal samples that drift over the soundscape of swaying bodies. The A-side culminates with Gigi Testa's "Summer Snow," a journey into outernational house characterized by lush pads, sun-dappled melodies, and the rhythmic richness of global influences.

Zopelar's "Arapuca" ushers in the B-side with a fusion of jazzy and disco-infused house. This dynamic track blends muted trumpet improvisations and groovy synth work, offering an entrancing dancefloor experience. Alex From Tokyo contributes "Wa Galaxy," a cosmic club cut that draws from his diverse background, merging the influences of Berlin and his Japanese upbringing. The LP concludes with K15's "Autumn," a poignant solo piano ballad that adds a reflective touch to the collection. As Familiar Sounds Vol. 2 gracefully transitions from dynamic dancefloor energy to introspective melodies, it showcases the label's dedication to crafting a diverse and open-minded musical universe. With an artistic direction provided by long-time collaborator Tyler Askew and a promise of top-quality vinyl craftsmanship, this release is a testament to Sounds Familiar's continued innovation and impact on the music scene. Available on vinyl.
