Hailing from Porto, Jazzego Records has been accumulating relevant releases from the city’s burgeoning underground scene. Granito is their brand new compilation, showcasing nine artists and nine musical approaches that connect the label’s diverse output - within jazz and all its many deviations. We had the pleasure of featuring some of the artists/projects included, like Azar Azar, Pedro, Minus & MRDolly or SaiR. Others have under our radar and personal preferances for a while…

But more than a showcase of this scene, Granito’s intention is to be a roadmap for what Porto is set to bring to table in the near future within Europe’s underground and contemporary scene. From the beautiful compositions that kick off the album, result of the infinite creativity and sonic knowledge of Azar Azar and Pedro, passing by smooth takes on jazz music by Hugo Danin or Geodudes to groovy moments provided by Minus & MRDolly, Johnny Virtus and SaiR. Bardino and Klin Klop are in charge of the electronic and clubby moments of the record, rounding off a project that is both consistent and diverse. Being located in Porto, it’s a pleasure for us to have been following these artists and build an increasingly deep appreciation for their outputs. Granito is available on vinyl, courtesy of Jazzego Records.
