Editado pela Stones Throw Records - a editora perfeita para este projecto - "Yes Lawd!" é uma peça que mistura na perfeição as raízes da música afro-americana. Há muita soul, muito funk, muito jazz, muito hip hop, muita atitude! Aliás a viagem pelo álbum é isso mesmo. Há momentos que fazem lembrar os anos 60'/70' da música negra, outros com samples bem funky e batidas na onda R&B/Hip Hop... Isso tudo conduzido por Knxwledge. É ele que guia este Chevrolet descapotável.
No lugar de passageiro, Anderson Paak. Qual super-herói! Na sua atitude pavoneadora, sem papas na língua... uma espécie de James Brown dos dias de hoje. Nastier, meaner e sexier. Dirige-se ao mulherio: magoando-as ou sendo magoado por elas. Encantado, ajustado, enojado, desapontado, apaixonado por elas. Chamando-lhes de amores e de putas. Prometendo não trair e traindo. Capaz de as endeusar para depois as reduzir a pó na faixa seguinte. Paak é Paak e quando ele te chama bitch é porque és a bitch dele...
Espero ansiosamente pelo momento em que tenha este vinil nas mãos. Não haverá melhor coisa durante uns tempos do que chegar ao Sótão de noite, segurá-los nas mãos, e pô-lo a tocar... sentar-me e deixá-lo. Amei isto à primeira vista, assim como amei a "Suede" cinco segundo após o play. Para a coleção especial do Sótão: "YES LAWD!"
Algo diferente. Casssandre é uma cantora belga que enche as quatro paredes do Sótão. Rodeada de uma talentosa banda, controla os momentos. Mesmo sem ter aquela voz poderosíssima, canta e encanta. Sempre em Françês. Deparei-me com "Sifflant Soufflant" através de um remix da autoria de ShunGu, que já foi passando por aqui, e só tive que investigar quem estava ali com aquela voz, com aquelas pausas tão bem medidas, com aquela melodia. Aquela melodia.
Encantador "GODDY GOD (was a motha fucka)", segundo EP desta belguinha. Campo jazz, entoado com alma, os minutos das seis músicas passaram por mim flutuando. Fiquem com dois vídeos, ao vivo, e com o link para a paz, em forma de melodia. Aí em cima. Merece play...
Encantadora. Este sonho de Casssandre. Com três s's.

A já bem conhecida "Do It" tem quê? 2 anos e tal? Mais? Não sei... Mas ainda é música para aquelas grandes ocasiões. É música de extâse e celebração. Amo a "Do It". A letra é tão simples e básica, como é possível algo ser tão bom? Funky, funky, funky... amo! Gosto do facto de já a ouvir há anos e só agora ter o reconhecimento (questões de editoras obviamente): bem sei que é completamente irrelevante, mas faz com que seja um bocado minha. Estava lá quando saiu e vi nela aquilo que é hoje. É irrelevante, claro... mas não deixa de ser verdade. Quem anda no Sótão sabe...

Mas este post não é sobre a "Do It". É sobre o álbum, homónimo, que foi lançado este ano, com grande expectativa da minha parte. Não podia estar mais contente... Cheio de soul, das que nos metem bem dispostos, das da ocasião. Aquelas em que está tudo de copo na mão a celebrar qualquer coisa. 12 músicas com basicamente o mesmo tema... O boggie de fim-de-semana em boa companhia. Seja esse fim-de-semana passado numa praia, numa piscina, numa disco. Tanto faz. Música, copos, amigos. Basta.
E assim este post tem vários vídeos escondidos atrás dessas imagens que marcam a imagem revivalista da Soul music dos anos 80', que Mayer Hawthorne e Jake One imprimem nas suas músicas.
Olho para o espelho... impecável? Não dá hipótese! Pisco o olho, tudo top! Saio do Sótão e vou para à noite em boa companhia.
