Joel Holmes is a man that doesn’t need introductions. The 38 year-old American jazz pianist and four times Grammy nominee is more and more part of the Berlin jazz & disco infused club scene, after years playing with legends like Roy Hargrove or Carl Craig. Osmosis is his latest project, released once again by Toy Tonics, following the acclaimed collaboration with Cody Currie in New Chapter and Metropolis. This 4-track EP was recorded in a couple of jam sessions and later reworked and co-produced by the label-head Kapote and Sam Ruffillo.

While working with Cody Currie, Joel Holmes eventually created a kind of new jazz-dance universe around him in the German capital. There’s is a lot happening in the new Berlin jazz meets electronic scene and Joel Holmes is in its center, as one of the most revered artists. In Osmosis he provides four dance tracks that don’t comply with static structures, creating the necessary space for Holmes’ keys to flow freely. Deep house vibes, loads of soulful moments. This is a record that just ‘feels so good’. Available on vinyl, Osmosis is Holmes’ manifesto for what he’s up to in Berlin.
