jura soundsystem: return to the island
Francisco Espregueira
Following a series of EP’s released in the past few years, Isle Of Jura’s imprint label head Kevin Griffith presents his debut LP as Jura Soundsystem. Composed by 8 tracks, Return to the Island was produced in Griffith’s studio in Moana, a sleepy suburb of Adelaide in South Australia, an idyllic location surrounded by palm trees and tropical birdlife and an inspiring spot to fire up the machines, typically with the studio door wide open to soak up the soundtrack provided by mother nature.
Recorded in the midst of the pandemic, Return to the Island inception is heavily influenced by the surrounding context that is ingrained into the producers mind, capturing tropical birdsongs, the sound wind blowing through the palms and free-spirit field recordings. With no gig distraction in an isolated and blessed state of mind, Jura Sounsystem presents an album that traverses deep house, acid, nu-disco, balearica and ambient along with some leftfield samples and a heavy dose dub throughout. A trip that is available on vinyl and that will enrich the souls of this platform listeners. Courtesy of Isle Of Jura.
