KaySoul flies all over from Johannesburg to land in Berlin, more specifically in the tasteful and intellectual latitudes of Dirt Crew Recordings. Frequency Rays of One Cosmic EP is composed by three originals and one remix by Clive From Accounts, opening the year for the Berlin imprint in style. The South-African prepares to deliver more of his classy deep house music with a Shall Not Fade release coming later this year.
The opener “Mr Ray in Cosmic” is a great deep and up-tempo house track that can surely work perfectly on any late night dance floor. It’s followed by the soul laden slow mover “Behind One”, in which you can hear KaySoul’s love for the early Detroit and Chicago house textures. “UFO Frequency” is a deep and dwelling house jam that reminiscences the legacy of producers like Kerri Chandler and Larry Heard, with a irresistible bassline.
