mark de clive-lowe: midnight snacks vol. 4
Francisco Espregueira
Flying over us, the influence of the consistently groundbreaking work of Mark de Clive-Lowe deserves our attention. Following Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3 and Midnight Snacks Remixed, plus years of getting heavy into his jazz tendencies and influences, the electronic-jazz pioneer returns with the fourth instalment of this tasty series. Midnight Snacks Vol. 4 comes with three tracks in which we can hear him experimenting with textures that he already knows, nonetheless expanding them in new forms.
This latest release from MdCL continues his exploration of the intersection between house, downtempo, and jazz. The EP features tracks like "Myōken" and "Mantra," which showcase his ability to create intricate and hypnotic grooves. The album concludes with the serene and uplifting "Taiyō no Soyokaze," a beautiful tribute to the power of nature. With Midnight Snacks Vol. 4 MdCL once again demonstrates his mastery of sound and his commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music. Available on vinyl, via Mashibeats.
