peoples pleasure with alive and well: do you hear me talking to you?

Francisco Espregueira

The single from Everyday People, “World Full Of People / I’d Like To Stay”, is well known on the modern soul and funk scene and it’s relatively easy to find a copy selling for more than 500 euros. What was always less well known was that there was also an LP by the same band but labeled as People Pleasure, featuring. as it is announced, L.A.’s No. 1 band, Alive and Well. The guys at Athens of the North label came across this LP in Finland in the early 2000s and after 15 years, they were able to unravel the mystery behind this forgotten record, part of very specific, and personal, collections out there.

After managing to clear the rights, the final hurdle was to find a clean copy. Not an easy task. After asking loads of deep collectors, they eventually got access to a practically-new personal copy. A treasure considering how rare this record is. Almost impossible to replace. The LP was then mastered from that specific vinyl (no tapes exist) and while it still sounds pretty raw it is twice as good as the original. Many years have passed, but here it is, courtesy of the fantastic Athens of the North label, Do You Hear Me Talking To You?. Release date is scheduled for January 28th, but pre-orders are available.
