Highly respected in the scene, Rico Herrera is known for his production work for various hip hop artists, the L.A. hip hop collective Rebels to the Grain, and his collaboration with the Italian DJ’s ‘I Maniaci dei dischi’. Under Your Spell EP is the third record from the Italian DJ, producer and MC on Roots Underground - one of our favorite labels. Following, Uno EP and Excursions Vol. 1 , he presents four brand new tracks that move smoothly between soulful deep house and gritty broken beat.
Kicking off with “Slow Down”, Herrera showcases his penchant for the broken rhythms, providing unbearable levels of groove with an intricate urban soul composition. Next up comes “Train Home”, a deep and emotional anthem, that tears our defenses down and involves from the first moment. The title track is one for the good times, filled with celebration feelings and ecstatic vocal performances. The EP closes with “With Love”, a mindful night ride with class touches for the deep house heads.Full of collaborations (Soul Supreme, Jane Hamilton, Wallace), Under Your Spell EP will not disappoint the soulful and jazzy house music lovers.
