Roselien’s newest project Rosie From The Block drops out of the blue via the Belgian imprint Welcome To Vice City. Love Potions For Block Parties EP rotates on illegal levels of groove, containing three tracks filled with refreshing but sharp broken beats, soulful and gospel like vocals and soft touches from Roselien. Having caught attention and support from big names worldwide such as Lefto or Reggie Watts, a remix done by legend Kaidi Tatham and done support shows for Gregory Porter or Meshel Ndegeocello, Roselien introduces us to her bolder side.
The Beligan artist always had her vocals as the leading factor in her music. As Rosie From The Block she showcases something different, giving full attention to her instrumentals and adding lyrics in function of her jams. “You Are Loved” is a lush and mellow affair, accompanied by strong drums and carefully chosen chords. Transitioning to “Let Me Be”, we listen to a strong message for every woman as the vocals echoe through a funky dancefloor jam… The EP is wrapped up by “No Matter What”, a groovy head nodder that flows with bright and joyful piano chords alongside syncopated percussion. Entirely composed and written by Rosie From The Block, Love Potions For Block Parties EP is an instictive project from an artist to watch closer. Available on Bandcamp.
