The GLBDOM imprint has been providing a series of good releases over the past couple of years. This holiday season another is the perfect time for them to drop another smooth project. 2 Far Gone EP by SI-FI is a groovy four-tracker presenting a subtle blend of break-beat, 2-step and garage rhythms all deftly interwoven with some seriously clever and sumptuous hooks and melodies.
2 Far Gone kicks off with “Your Restless Eyes”, a beautiful breakbeat tune featuring haunting vocals, gorgeous melody lines and bass sections harking back to the early days of jungle and drum & bass. Next up is the title-track, an exquisite 2-step vocal infused number subtly laced with shimmering synth riffs and elegant, emotional pads. “Stop At Nothing” is a melancholic 2-step tune which expertly blends numerous dance music tropes – organs, Reese bass, vocal stabs - into one seamless and poignant whole. Wrapping things up is “Talk'“ a more garage tinged, urban style jam laced with piano motifs, sensitive vocal refrains and a super warm and fuzzy bassline.
