Razor-N-Tape has been one of the main labels releasing dancefloor-oriented music over the past few years, with countless high-karat-gold records and countless talent delivering tasteful and bouncy cuts. They add another new name to the roster with their latest project coming from Belgium’s UC Beatz and his Midnight Swing EP.
On the A side, “Midnight Swing” is a peak-time house affair with pulsating chords and infectious sampled vocals, while “Bleu Ciel” smooths it out with luscious synths and a familiar voice over a driving classic drum machine beat. Flipping the record we find Cody Currie perspective of “Bleu Ciel”, turning it into a deep and jazzy moment. The record winds down with the stripped-down and suggestive “Broken Idyll”. Conveying the deep housey business he’s become known for as founder of the limited-run vinyl-only label Entrepôt Records, UC Beatz’s Midnight Swing EP runs smoothly on every moment of the day.
