Dansu Discs is a record label based in London that, since 2017, has been introducing us to electronic music from around the world. Their 24th release presents Wilfy D and his absolute explosion of groove in New Lockdown Soul EP. The producer, DJ and owner of VITAMIN D Records hails from Bristol, having released quality EP’s on various underground labels. New Lockdown Soul might be his definite step up, deserving our full attention and appreciation.
This 6 track EP takes us on a journey of soulful 2-step beats, recapping the unique sound that made Wilfy D burst onto the scene in 2020. The R&B vocal samples are absolutely on point, carrying a bold, but still mellow, energy into the imaginary dancefloors that run through our minds. That is especially evident in his original mixes - “2 Good 2 Be True” might become an anthem for 2021. A remix from Dansu Discs crew member Yosh wraps up New Lockdown Soul, with a killer take on “Make Up Your Mind”. Available via Bandcamp this is a mandatory record for the fans of 2-step, UK garage, broken beat and R&B-infused electronic music.
