Italian drummer and composer Fabio De Angelis, artistically known as Devra, is making his debut with a self-titled EP on Root Records. The project showcases a blend of jazz and neo-soul, infused with elements of hip hop and r&b. Inspired by the Italian underground music scene and influenced by artists like Robert Glasper and Roy Hargrove, Devra EP highlights the drummer’s musical evolution, experiences and cross-genre collaborations that led a personal synthesis resulting in this project.
As a respected session drummer, Devra has collaborated with various artists in the jazz and pop scenes, shaping his deliver. The first single, "Moses," introduces the EP with a rhythmic exploration and contrasting hip-hop grooves,"Blood Water" combines neo-soul melodies and atmospheric layers with powerful messages and "The Stealer," the EP's final single, pays homage to the late Roy Hargrove, capturing the essence of New York City through weaving horn lines and jazz traditions.
