Kazuki Yamaguchi, also known as Kez Ym, is a Japanese producer and DJ based in Berlin, that has been putting up a strong original work and remixes on respected labels like Yore, Deep Explorer, Faces and City Fly. Following his debut LP, Cross Section, which dropped in 2019, he joins the Kooley High Records’ roster to deliver a ‘no-filler’ EP. Dammed Up is, in fact, a project that currently plays on repeat around here, showcasing Kazuki’s trademark vibes: true school funk, soul, disco and Detroit beatdown inspirations.
Comprised by five tracks, Dammed Up EP is filled with deep rhodes chords, funky basslines and an intricate percussion work, blending house music with electro-jazz elements. On top of that, everything is incredibly well polished, with just the right amount of roughness around the edges to give a texture that just grooves with us. Kez Ym keeps delivering deep mesmerizing house music, cementing his status as one of ‘your producer’s favorite producers’.
